holidays

i wish i wasn't so obsessed with holidays but i always have been and i have a feeling i always will be. i think having a kid has only magnified this obsession... is it weird that i have outfits for emmerson for every holiday up until her first birthday? ...as in valentine's day, st patricks day, easter, 4th of july....and now you can officially think i've lost my marbles...her halloween costume came in the mail from pottery barn kids last week.

i need help.

poop.

if you know our daughter, then you know that she has a very healthy digestive system...let me explain. in the hospital the nurses made it clear that i would need to keep track of whether she dropped a deuce or not in the first 24 hours of her life. well she did before they could even get a diaper on her....and six more times in that 24 hour period. this frequency continued for about 6 weeks, and then dropped slightly to 3 times a day and she's now a twice a day kinda baby. i'm ok with that. well yesterday was a day i sure didn't expect to see in our near future...NO poopy diapers. i was shocked/terrified that she might explode!! well do not fret dear friends, we're back to normal today, and i just wanted to share with all of you the infamous "poop face" that we've tried to capture several times. they are blurry, but this was the first thing that cracked me up about her in the hospital and she continues to make the same face now. i love it to pieces and it never ceases to make me giggle.

now she wont wonder why i call her stinker bell or poopsie daisy later in life.

vote for emmerson claire with the crazy hair!

remember this cute little face?
...well i wanted to upload pictures on thecutekid.com to enter into contests for some serious cash, but they wanted $19.95 to enter a photo...so i said HECK with that...

i got an e-mail from parents.com (magazine) saying that emmerson was in this weeks cute kid contest (along with like 10,000 others, so i'm sure everyone who tried to submit a photo gets this e-mail) but i figure as long as she's entered into a contest lets VOTE for this sweet girl!

i think you just click on "i love it!" under her photo to vote...and i don't even know what she gets if she wins, but who cares! just vote! :) thanks friends, lovers, and blog stalkers of the world. i owe ya one!

rainy days

it's funny how if you live in southern california, the rain is often a welcomed treat, since these days are few and far in between. the forecast predicts warm and sunny nearly everyday of the year, for weeks on end and so the rain is refreshing. i truly enjoy the feeling that overcomes me. movies, games, lights on all day, warm cozy clothes, cuddling, naps, baking, a bubble bath...it all sounds so good when raindrops are beating on the windows.

our kitchen window

and...what else would greg do on a rainy day, but take pictures of our cute kid. i swear we have over 2000 pictures of the little one and i'm not even exaggerating. i fear she will have seizures one day from all the flash.

the deepest blue eyes i've ever seen.

enjoy this terrible weather san diegans! i know i am!

help support the nielsen three

a couple of years ago, my sweet husband started an auto detailing business. we called it Nielsen Mobile Detailing and everything was peachy. business has recently slowed down quite a bit around the holidays, plus this rain planning to pour down on us all week, equals no work. here's what you can do to help, if you're interested. we don't care whether we know you or not...or whether you even live in the area or not, just go to his website Nielsen Mobile Detailing. there we have a link to become a fan on facebook. he needs to get at least 500 fans. spread the word, and if you, or anyone you know in the san diego area needs their car detailed after this rain passes, you know who to call!

ice cream

yesterday was a good day. it was my VERY first experience with an ice cream truck....

my friend kelsey and i were at the beach in la jolla watching our lovers surf, when i heard a glorious sound...the most annoying music in history...the ice cream truck making its way down the street!!! i dreamed that this day would come and i was overjoyed. i quickly prayed for cash in my wallet. MIRACLE...$7! the closer this heavenly man in the colorful truck came, the more my heart raced with excitement. i assume that my happy dance on the sidewalk cued him to stop. he pulled over, displaying pictures of the scrumptious treasures offered inside. i told him that i was a first timer and he was very happy for me. i chose the popsicle cherry collision, payed the kind gentlemen, thanked him for a wonderful experience and carried on with my day. it was a day i will never forget.

twenty ten.

twenty ten...two thousand ten...whatever it may be, i feel like this year will be swell. i like it already! i'm so grateful that my husband can work so that i am able to stay home with my sweet baby girl. i absolutely love hanging out with her and watching her grow.

now, i made a couple of resolutions. in announcing these things to the world, i hope to put more effort into keeping them.

1) fold and put away clothes immediately after doing laundry. this is to minimize disaster on our bedroom floor. (sorry dad...i know you tried real hard to train me, but i still suck at putting clothes away)

2) make meal plans. we decide on suppers that we really like, shop for what we need for those meals, and stick to it. this way we wont eat out as often, helping us to lose that extra holiday weight and making it a treat when we do get to go out. we will get the most out of our groceries having it all planned out.

i like this new way of life! my house is tidy and we are eating better!

here's to a wonderful year ahead!
cheers.
