hearing aids.

Hudson got hearing aids. what a blessing those little gadgets will be in our lives. we had his appointment two days ago. he fell asleep in my arms right before we were called in. the lady got everything situated while he slept, then put one of the hearing aids in his ear not yet turned on. she told me she was going to run some test sounds from the computer to see if he responded in any way. the second the sounds started he woke up startled. he was shaking a bit, his eyeballs were huge, and he looked at me with a pout that would tug at anyone's heart strings. it took a few more seconds for him to adjust to what was happening, and then he heard our voices. he looked at whoever was talking to him, blinked at the sound of claps and smiled the whole time. Hudson could hear us and i couldn't hold back my happy tears of relief and hope.

what joy this has brought to all of us! he still has plenty of hearing tests scheduled with and without hearing aids so that we figure out what range of sounds he is able to pick up on, but we are thrilled with the results thus far. we are so grateful for everyone who has shown us an overwhelming amount of love and support throughout all of this. the kind words, thoughts and prayers have been more than appreciated. my heart is full.
