10 weeks.

the little being growing inside of me is quite like a gummy bear at this point in time. we'll go with an orange gummy bear since it is due in october. october 24th to be exact. well it still doesn't feel real. it is truly hard to fathom that there is a little human growing in my belly. i took 3 pregnancy tests, bought a full on baby boy AND baby girl wardrobe complete with shoes...many teeny tiny pairs of precious shoes  AND had an ultrasound on monday showing our sweet pumpkins heartbeat...you'd think it would have sunk in by now.

so, the three pregnancy tests were necessary for husband. the two "line" tests taken just weren't bold enough for him...he needed a digital "pregnant" or "not pregnant" test. once that turned out positive, he was sold.

clear blue...totally the way to go.

i went crazy with clothes only because there were millions of "early hurley" clothes for wee babies on sale and i couldn't possibly pass them up. roxy shoes, sperry topsiders, vans, and keds are also part of the collection....all for under 6 months of age mind you. 

seeing a little heartbeat flicker on the screen of the ultrasound is a surreal experience. our baby moves a bunch already. can't keep still...it gets that from daddy.

my jeans are getting a little tight...my belly sticks out a bit more everyday.

prenatal vitamins make me sick.

if anyone mentions anything even slightly desirable to my taste buds, i can't get that food out of my head until it is in my belly. annoying.

i am exhausted all the time.

well....there you have it. pregnancy week 10. later this week...fingernails!  baby is coming along wonderfully!

oh, and notice in the second picture the halo over the head? doctor says it's the yolk sac...pssshhhh. whatever. it's a halo.

it's a good thing...

...that we were able to frolic in this field of yellow flowers before some beastly human MOWED them down. thats right, gone. we enjoyed them while they lasted! i hope spring finds you all sooner than later.

wont you be my neighbor.

this is an ode to our smith friends. i thought it would add a nice touch to have a little music to better express our feelings.

it's pretty simple really. we love our neighbors. they take us to mexico, they introduce us to shows like hell's kitchen, ABDC and lie to me. they play with us when we are bored, they come on midnight runs to get unhealthy food, they give us milk when when we need mac and cheese, and they just make us happy.

the nielsen family

over the weekend, the nielsen family had a sweet reunion. all of us together again for the first time in over 2 years. Logan and Chris had never met, so i guess it was the first time for all of us to be together EVER. logan and michelle flew in from utah, and it was so good to see them. stephanie was supposed to be stuck in hawaii so i was completely bummed about that. WELL, we went to meet everyone for dinner on friday night. we were all around the table, and there was one empty seat. chuck suggested we call steph in hawaii while we were all together so she could be included. we all said our hello's and let her know we missed her, and she asked to talk to me. i took the phone and told her about this empty seat next to me and wished so badly she could be sitting in it. as i turned to look at the poor seat, i see my sweet sister steph walking towards me!!! i screamed at the top of my lungs and oh yes, there were tears. (joy and crazy hormones mixed) that is how is was supposed to be. i love my nielsen family.

goodbye to you

for the next 7 1/2 months....this is goodbye sushi deli, i will miss your crunchy roll the most. goodbye deli meats, you will no longer be on my toast. goodbye hotdogs...padres games will be tough. goodbye diet coke, thankfully of you i've had enough. 

and i even read somewhere that i am not supposed to lay flat on my back. i don't even like to lay flat on my back, but now that i'm not supposed to i reallllllyyyyy want to. so far so good with the sickness. i am nothing but exhausted. i do crave things, but i have always been that way. i am taking my vitamins (my dear grandmother would be thrilled...sharon and logan, this is also for you...thanks for checkin up on me). friend ashley has kindly supplied me with mama bee burts bee's belly butter to assist with the skin stretching. 

names. oh the billions of names to choose from. i had my grandmother buy me a baby name book when i was 9. no joke. any suggestions? it will take me MONTHS to make a final decision.
